Clinical efficacy of repairing foot defects using peroneal artery and posterior tibial artery perforator fascial flaps |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical effect of peroneal artery and poster-or tibial artery perforator fascial flaps used for repairing foot defects.Methods Twenty-six cases of foot defects were treated with peroneal artery or posterior tibial artery perforator fascial flaps. The wound areas ranged from 4 cm×5 cm to 12 cm×15 cm after debridement. Fifteen of these wounds were repaired with peroneal artery perforator fascial flaps, and the rest were repaired with posterior tibial artery perforator fascial flaps. The areas of fascial flaps ranged from 6 cm×7 cm to 15 cm×18 cm.Results All the flaps survived and the wounds healed by first intention. The functions of the feet proved satisfactory after follow-up of 6 months to two years, and the flaps were working well.Conclusions The appearance and function of feet with soft tissue defects can be restored with peroneal artery and posterior tibial artery perforator fascial flaps in the early stage of the disease.
