Abstract: Objective To analyze the uric acid (UA) level in air force pilots and its change over a period of three years. Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted of the uric acid (UA) level in air force pilots who received physical examinations at this hospital from January 2008 to December 2010. The relation between the incidence of hyperuricemia, uric acid (UA) level and the indexes of blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood lipid was determined. Results The incidence of hyperuricemia in 2008, 2009 and 2010 was 8.2%, 14.2%, and 14.6% ,respectively. Compared with the pilots in normal uric acid group, those in the hyperuricemia group showed a notably high level of cholesterol (CHO) and triglycerides (TG) (P<0.01), and their diastolic pressure (DBP), systolic pressure (SBP), and blood glucose (BG) were also higher (P<0.05). Conclusions Hyperuricemia tends to increase year by year, associated with other risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. Measures need to be taken to strengthen the control of hyperuricemia so as to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
