Abstract：Objective To observe the clinical effects and symptom improvements of mosapride conbined with liuweinengxiao capsules (LWNXC) in treatment of elderly patients with diabetic gastroparesis (DGP).Methods 107 patients with senile diabetic gastroparesis were randomly divided into 2 groups, observation group (n=54) and control group (n=53), and treated orally with mosapride citrate dispersible tables (5 mg, tid) plus LWNXC (0.9 g, tid), and LWNXC (0.9 g, tid),respectively. The medicines should be administered at the time of 30 minutes before meals for 4 weeks. At the same time, conventional treatment of diabetes was continued. Results After the completion of 4 weeks treatment, major symptoms of DGP, such as epigastric fullness/early satiety, belching, abdominal discomfort/pain, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, were obviously improved in the two groups, with significant differences between the severity of symptoms before and after treatment (P<0.01), respectively. Overall evaluating the curative effect in the patients, there was a significant difference between the total effective rates of the two groups, that was 90.8% in observation group and 73.6% in control group (P<0.05). At the same time, improvement of blood glucose controlling in diabetic patients of the two groups were observed, and significant differences existed in of fasting blood glucose and 2 hours postprandial blood glucose, between before and after treatment (P<0.01) . Conclusions The curative effect of mosapride citrate dispersible tablets combined with LWNXC in treating senile diabetic gastroparesis is superior to that of mosapride citrate dispersible tablets with absence of LWNXC. It should be emphasized that conventional treatment of diabetes should be performed as basic therapy on DGP.
