Abstract:Objective To study the effect of TCM therapy in different stages on facial neuritis. Methods 95 patients with facial neuritis were divided into two groups based on 1∶1 ratio,48 cases in study group and 47 cases in control group. In the two groups of patients different acupuncture techniques were used during the period of acute stage, stationary stage, and recovery stage. At the same time, patients in the study group were divided into having different patterns of syndrome, and were given different Chinese medicine on the basis of the powder for treating face-distortion. While, the 47 patients in control group were just given the powder for treating face-distortion. After 6 weeks of treatment, the efficacy in the two groups and the function of facial nerve were compared. Results After 6 weeks of treatment, clinical cure rate in the study group was 83.3%, obviously superior to that in the control group,74.4% (P<0.01), but in the total effective rate, the two groups had no statisticallg significant difference. The facial nerve motor function, language function and comprehensive function in the two groups were significantly higher than before(P<0.05). Furthermore, compared with the control group, the facial nerve motor function, language function and comprehensive function of the treatment group were improved (P<0.05). Conclusions TCM treatment in different stages can significantly improve the prognosis of patients with facial neuritis.
