Investigation and analysis of development of clinical pharmacy in tertiary hospitals of Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces

Abstract:Objective To investigate the status quo of clinical pharmacy in tertiary hospitals of Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces in order to provide reference for the construction of pharmacy in hospitals. Methods The survey was conducted by means of telephone calls, questionnaires and visits in thirty-three tertiary hospitals of Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces, and the results were statistically analyzed. Results The rate of pharmacy establishment, staffing, adverse drug reactions monitoring and drug information consultation was 69.7%, 84.8%, 90.9% and 84.8%, respectively, while the rate of full-time clinical pharmacists, specialist consultation, pharmacy rounds and training of rational drug use was 28.1%, 18.2%, 9.1% and 12.1%, respectively. Conclusion The key to the development of clinical pharmacy is to strengthen the construction of talent teams, improve the guidelines and change the situation where hospitals subsidize their clinical services with sales of expensive drugs.
