Abstract：Objective To standardize the use of antibiotics and guide rational use of clinical drugs by evaluating the use of antibiotics for septoplasty.Methods Related articles were retrieved from both Chinese and English databases.Results There were six randomized controlled trials included in this study. Whether antibiotics were used during anesthesia or for seven consecutive days after operation did not lead to significant difference in the risks of incidence of postoperative infections, hematoma or purulent nasal discharge [relative risk (RR)=0.98 95%, CI:0.61-1.56, P=0.93]. Whether antibiotics were used or not during septoplasty had the same effect[relative risk (RR)=1.32 95%,CI:0.90-1.95, P=0.16].Conclusions Meta-analysis has showed that no significant difference is found between the group that receives antibiotics once preoperatively and the group that takes antibiotics for 7 days postoperatively.
