Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of motor imagery and cognitive function training on BI, FCA scores and quality of life of elderly patients with cerebral infarction. Methods Ninety-five elderly patients with cerebral infarction treated in our hospital between September 2014 and December 2016 were divided into control group and observation group using a random number table. The control group was treated with early cognitive function training, while the observation group was additionally given the motor imagery therapy. The motor function, integrated functions, cognitive ability, ability of daily life, quality of life and changes of levels of serum neuron specific enolase (NSE) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) after treatment were observed in the two groups. Results Motor function, integrated functions, cognitive ability and daily life ability of these patients were improved after treatment, especially in the observation group (P<0.05). After treatment, the NSE level became lower while the BDN level was increased in both groups. The NSE level of the observation group after treatment was lower than that of the control group, but the level of BDNF was higher (P<0.05). After treatment, strength, memory, thinking, emotion, communication, mobility, daily life ability and hand function scores were improved in both groups. The quality of life score of the observation group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions Motor imagery combined with cognitive function training can improve the ability for daily life, motor function and cognitive function in elderly patients with cerebral infarction, promote the expression of BDNF and improve the quality of life of patients.
