Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and reliability of transabdominal preperitoneal using different hernia patch fixation methods. Methods The clinical data of 190 recipients of transabdominal preperitoneal between January 2014 and August 2019 was collected. According to fixation methods of hernia patches, these cases were divided into three groups: non-fixation group (88 cases), medical glue fixation group (66 cases) and nail fixation group (36 cases). Results All the 190 cases were followed up for 6 to 24 months, and no recurrence of hernia was found. The visual analogue score(VAS) and the inguinal pain questionnaire(IPQ) score at 1, 3 and 6 months after operation was significantly higher in the nail fixation group than that of the medical glue fixation group and the non-fixation group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of seroma in the non-fixation group was significantly different from (P<0.05) that of the nail fixation group and the medical glue fixation group. The sensation of a foreign body in the non-fixation group and the medical glue fixation group was significantly lower than that of the nail fixation group (P<0.05).Conclusions Non-fixation of hernia patches in transabdominal preperitoneal has a similar effect to medical glue fixation, which can reduce the incidence of chronic pain and foreign body sensation in the middle and long term. The hernia patch is safe and effective without fixation, which should be more widely used in transabdominal preperitoneal.
