Abstract:Objective To assess the applicability of the curriculum for standardized training on battlefield rescue skills in Chinese Coast Guard. Methods The scores of 56 trainees who had received 20 hours of standardized training were collected and compared with those of another 321 trainees who had undergone 4 hours of training and with those of another 56 trainees who had been subjected to 14 days of training. Data was analyzed by statistical software. Results After 20 hours of standardized training, the trainees had their scores of theories and manipulation improved significantly (P<0.05). Trainees who had received 20 hours or 14 days of training not only had better scores of manipulation than those who had undergone 4 hours of training (P<0.05), but were able to make their rate of successful manipulation exceed 80%. Conclusions The 20-hour standardized training mode can achieve the objective of training, and ensure a higher time-effectiveness ratio than the two other modes of training. This approach can be made more accessible to Coast Guard.
