Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of implantation performed with the flapless technique in anterior maxilla. Methods Thirty-two patients scheduled for implants in anterior maxilla in Beijing Municipal Corps Hospital between April 2018 and October 2018 were divided into two groups: the flapless technique group (n=16) and the flap technique group (n=16). The duration of surgery in the two groups was calculated and clinical effects were observed. Follow-up started 3 months and 6 months after implantation. Alveolar bone resorption around the implants was recorded and compared via X-ray. Results The duration of surgery in the flapless technique group was (18.87±4.34) minutes, compared with (37.27±5.35) minutes in the flap technique group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The postoperative duration of oral swelling and pain and that of antibiotic use in the flapless technique group were (0.85±0.33) days and (1.84±0.75) days respectively, compared with(2.61±0.74) days and (4.22±1.36) days respectively in the flap technique group,so the difference was of statistical significance(P<0.05). The time taken by alveolar bone resorptions 3 months and 6 months after implantation was (0.29±0.05) mm and (0.36±0.07) mm respectively in the flapless technique group and (0.55±0.06) mm and (0.65±0.05) mm respectively in the flap technique, so the difference was also of statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusions The flapless technique used in implantation can shorten the duration of surgery and oral swelling and pain, reduce the use of antibiotics and decrease bone resorption around implants.
