Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlations between the neutrophil to lymphocytes ratio in the peripheral blood of patients with adverse reactions caused by component transfusion and related adverse reactions. Methods The clinical data on 69 patients who had received component transfusion and developed adverse reactions between April 2018 and December 2019 was collected as the occurrence group, while the clinical data on another 72 patients who had received component transfusion without any adverse reactions in the same period served as the non-occurrence group. The levels of neutrophils, lymphocytes and the neutrophil to lymphocytes ratios were detected in both groups before blood transfusion. Regression analysis was used to determine the effect of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio before blood transfusion on the incidence of adverse reactions in patients with component blood transfusion, and the ROC curve was drawn to predict the value of risk of adverse reactions of component transfusion. Results The levels of neutrophils, lymphocytes and the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio before blood transfusion in the occurrence group were higher than those in the non-occurrence group (P<0.05). The results of regression analysis showed that the overexpression of the neutrophil to lymphocytes ratio could influence the incidence of adverse reactions in component transfusion patients (OR>1, P<0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) of adverse reactions in component transfusion patients was 0.834,which was predicted by the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio before blood transfusion , so the predictability was satisfactory. Conclusions The risk of adverse reactions among component transfusion patients may be related to the overexpression of the neutrophil to lymphocytes ratio in peripheral blood.
