Investigation and evaluation of demands of health education in Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces in southern Xinjiang region |

Abstract Objective To investigate and evaluate the demands of health education in Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces in Nanjiang region. Methods By using the method of the self-made questionnaire, The demands of health education in 480 recruits were investigated about the contents of demands of health education, the ways of health demands, the status of health knowledge-attitude-behavior、 According to different academic diplomas and different origins, comprehensive evaluation of the demands of health education was done. Results The total rate of awareness of knowledge about health education reached 70.25%.The total rates of holding health attitude and health behavior were 88.46% and 62.35%. Demands of health education in recruits were extensive, The top five demands were as follows. self-protection against terrorism (100%), mental regulation against terrorism (100%), custom of minority area (87.95%), cold-warm knowledge in desert area (83.93%),wound ambulance (83.09%),and characteristics of desert climate (83.09%). The need of stress and social disabilities was the lowest(43.97%). Multi-media and self-study online were the favorite means of health education, accounting for 84.24% and 60.44%, respectively.There was statistically significant difference in academic diplomas and different origins in sexual physiology and psychology needs. Conclusions Self-protection against terrorism, mental regulation against terrorism, custom of minority area along with multi-media and self-study online are the most urgent demands.
