| Factors that affect sleep quality of military officers temporarily on the plateau |

Abstract Objective To analyze the incidence of sleep disorders in the supportive armed police officers and recommend methods of prevention and treatment in order to contribute to improving the security system of the Tibetan troops on the plateau. Methods A total of 96 officers who had entered the plateau from the mainland of China in 2013 were selected as the aid group, while another 100 officers stationed in this region were selected as the plateau control group. The sleep quality of each group was examined with the final score which was evaluated by the Global Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The reference value of PSQI decline was ≥7 and the difference between the two groups in the PSQI factors and the total scores were analyzed. Results The control group scored (7.12±3.60) and the incidence of sleep disorders was 45%, compared with (8.85±2.43) and 63.5% in the aid group. There was significant difference between the two groups in sleep quality, time taken to fall asleep, sleep efficiency and sleep disorders (P<0.05). Conclusions This paper analyzes the characteristics and trends of sleep disorders among the reconstruction officers on the Tibetan Plateau, providing compelling data for further improvement of the reconstruction service.
