Disease spectrum and cause analysis of PAP soldiers in Southern Xinjiang in 2012-2016 |

Abstract Objective To find out about the disease spectrum of PAP soldiers between 2012 and 2016 in Southern Xinjiang, and explore the regularity of the onset of diseases so as to provide health guidance for military training and disease control. Methods Using retrospective research methods, data on each outpatient,inpatient, referral and other recorded cases was collected and statistically analyzed. The statistical Results were described in charts and tables.Results Between 2012 and 2016, the health team treated a total of 13,531 patients. The top five systemic diseases were respiratory diseases (7,560 cases). 55.9%), motor system diseases (2324 cases; 17.2%) and digestive diseases (1869); 13.8%), skin diseases and related injuries (771 cases; 5.7%) and ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology diseases (438 cases; 3.2%). The number of patients with respiratory diseases, digestive system diseases, skin diseases and related injuries, heatstroke and poisoning varied with the month. There were 23 species of disease with fewer than 10 cases over those 5 years. The most prevalent disease was upper respiratory tract infection (7324 cases; 54.1%). Conclusions This study has preliminarily analyzed the characteristics and causes of the disease spectrum of grass-roots units in Southern Xinjiang, which can contribute to the prevention of disease in grass-roots units, improve the efficiency of services, and lead to effective countermeasures.
