Abstract Objective To investigate the status quo of anterior knee pain (AKP) among new recruits in a unit of Chinese People's Armed Police Force during a new training period and to analyze the related influencing factors. Methods An overall cross-sectional sampling survey was conducted among 477 recruits in a military unit of Chinese People's Armed Police Force in spring 2024, including general information, living habits, prevention knowledge and relevant medical conditions. Pain originating from the 4 layers of the anterior knee was defined as AKP. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 statistical software, with results evaluated through Independent Sample t-tests and Binary Logistic Regression Analysis. Results The incidence of AKP among new recruits in the new training period was 33.96%. The temporal distribution of AKP exhibited a “double-peak” pattern, with most cases occurring after running training and more than half lasting only 1 to 7 days. Smoking and lack of prevention knowledge were independent risk factors for AKP. Conclusions Among new recruits in the new training period, the incidence of AKP remains high. The differences of the influencing factors such as recruitment origin and education level are decreasing, while correction of bad living habits and popularization of training injury prevention knowledge are still the focuse of training injury prevention.
