Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of gender on the mental need of patients for elective surgery. Methods One hundred and ten patients for elective surgery were investigated by questionnaires. The original data were analysed using SPSS software. Results The anxiety level in females was higher than in males. Females cared more about the success of operation, cost and food than males. Conclusions During nursing care, attention should be paid to the removal of anxiety of patients, especially female patients, whose concerns should be resolved.
