Abstract: Objective To investigate the incidence and influencing factors of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infections in a unit of maneuverable Armed Police. Methods We collected expiration samples from 912 members of the Armed Police Force, and general information questionnaires were used. Cases of Hp infections were evaluated with 13C-urea breath testing, and the factors related to the infected patients were analyzed statistically. Results The Hp infection rate was 56.5% in this population. The Hp infection rates of patients aged less than 20、20 to 30、and over 30 were 53.2%,56.1% and 64.5%, respectively. There was no significant difference between the three groups(P>0.05). Those with a college degree were found to have a lower Hp infection rate than those with a high school diploma (30.4% vs 62.4%, P<0.001). The Hp infection rate of soldiers was higher than that of officers (58.1% vs 40.7%, P=0.002).There was statistically significant difference in the detection rate between those from cities and those from rural areas (P<0.001).Conclusions The Hp infection rate of maneuverable Armed Police is higher than the average rate in China. Levels of education, ranks and previous living environments have obvious effects on the incidence of Hp infections.
