Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with manual reduction in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods One hundred outpatients from January 2018 to December 2021 in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the Third Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital were randomly divided into the treatment group (50 cases) and the control group (50 cases). The treatment group was treated with acupuncture combined with manual reduction, while the control group was treated with acupuncture only. The onset time, pain, numbness, gait, straight leg raising, sensory disturbance, movement disorder, daily activity limitation and improvement rate were observed after treatment. Results The average onset time of the treatment group was 2.49 days and the average onset time of the control group was 3.63 days (P<0.05). The pain score after treatment was 2.52±0.58 in the treatment group and 1.78±0.98 in the control group. The numbness score was 2.92±0.27 in the treatment group and 2.24±0.80 in the control group. The gait score was 3.00±0.00 in the treatment group and 2.52±0.61 in the control group. The straight leg raising score was 1.98±0.14 in the treatment group and 1.48±0.61 in the control group. The score of sensory disturbance was 2.00±0.00 in the treatment group and 1.72±0.50 in the control group. The score of movement disorder was 1.98±0.14 in the treatment group and 1.64±0.49 in the control group. The daily activity limitation score was 12.18±1.79 in the treatment group and 11.40±1.71 in the control group(P<0.05).The overall improvement rate was 96% in the treatment group and 78% in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions Acupuncture combined with manual reduction in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation is characterized by rapid effect and high cure rate.
