Effect of trimetazidine on capability of anti-acute high altitude reaction in recruits in plateau area |

Abstract Objective To learn physiological and biochemical changes in recruits who enter into high altitude area, and to evaluate the treatment effect of trimetazidine on acute high altitude reaction. Methods A group of 120 recruits who served in plateau area were chosen and randomized into a trimetazidine group and a control group. A high altitude reaction scale was conducted, cardiovascular and pulmonary function data were collected, and arterial blood gas and oxidative stress indexes of veins were measureds,respectively. Results Compared with indexes before entry into plateau, most indexes of cardiovascular and pulmonary function, blood gas and oxidative stress showed a deteriorated tendency after entry into plateau (P<0.05). Compared with the control group after entry into plateau, the cardiovascular function index [(12.74±2.44) vs (14.28±4.38)], A-aDO2, H2O2 and LA were lower, while pH, CAT and SOD were higher in the trimetazidine group (P<0.05). Conclusions Signs of cardiovascular and pulmonary function, acid-base equilibrium and anti-oxidative stress ability of recruits worsened after entry into plateau. Trimetazidine may increase soldiers’ cardiovascular function significantly, and offer certain benefit to acid-base equilibrium and anti-oxidative stress process, but in vain to improve pulmonary function.
