Abstract:Objective To study the serum CRP concentration and WBC count changes in different types of pediatric pneumonia and the diagnostic value of CRP and WBC combined detection in children with pneumonia. Metheds 758 cases of pneumonia at our hospital were studied. They were divided into bacterial group(212 cases), virus group (287 cases) and mycoplasma group (259 patients) according to the type of pneumonia, with 142 healthy children as control. CRP, WBC and WBC classification detection were studied and CRP changes were observed in the course of the disease. Results The analysis of variance showed that each index of CRP, WBC, LYMPH, NEUT in the four groups was statistically different (P<0.05). The abnormal rate of CRP and WBC was also statisticaly different (P<0.05) by chi-square analysis. CRP in the bacterial group decreased faster during recovery while virus group showed no significant change. Conclusion CRP and WBC combined application plays a positive role in early diagnosis of pneumonia, clinical rational use of antibiotics and prevention of resistant bacteria.
