Abstract:Objective To study the effect of continuing nursing service on elderly patients with diabetes. Methods 180 patients with diabetes were divided into two groups:study group and control group.In both groups the routine nursing service was performed. Additionally,For the study group, continuing nursing care was implemented after they were discharged. The exercises of self-care agency scale were collected from both groups at the baseline and one year after they left hospital. Results At baseline, the self-care abilities of participants were in the medium level and there was no significant difference between both groups. The self-care ability of the study group(118.25±11.02)was higher than that of the control group (101.87±10.12)after intervention(P<0.05). Conclusions Continuing nursing service can significantly improve the self-care ability of elderly patients with diabetes.
