Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of forced-air warming equipment in patients who are recovering from general anesthesia. Methods From May 2016 to February 2017, 130 cases of patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups with methods used for temperature recovery. Group One was helped by forced-air warming equipment (n=58)while Group Two received common nursing care(n=72). Difference of the operation duration, blood transfusion, infusion volume, urine output, extubation time, the time interval between the end of operation and wake-up, incidence of shiver and agitation were compared between the two groups. Results All the 130 cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy were accomplished. The operation duration, blood transfusion, infusion volume and urine output were comparable between the two groups. The extubation time and the time interval between the end of operation and wake-up were shorter in patients who had used the forced-air warming system than in the control group(13.8±7.2 min vs 19.6±7.8 min; 47.5±7.6 min vs 55.6±11.5 min, P<0.001). Furthermore, the incidence rate of shiver and agitation was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(10.3% vs 25%; 6.9% vs 30.6%).Conclusions The application of force-air warming equipment could not only shorten the extubation time and the time interval between the end of operation and wake-up, but also reduce the incidence of shiver and agitation. The forced air warming equipment is worthy of popularization in nursing care.
