Abstract:Objective To investigate the health education demands of troops on the plateau,and to provide guidance for health education programs.Methods A total of 423 troops who were garrisoned in Hongyuan County in Aba Prefecture of Sichuan Province were selected as the subjects,who were given a questionnaire survey with a random sampling method. The survey involved their knowledge of plateau sanitation and plateau protection, and their demands and preferences related to health education. Then, the results were analyzed.Results All the subjects had a basic knowledge of health, but they had a poor knowledge of prevention of plateau diseases. The veterans had a better knowledge of health than recruits did. There was some difference between recruits and veterans in their demands for and access to health education.Conclusions There is an urgent demand for health education among officers and soldiers on the plateau. Health service should be made more accessible to officers and soldiers in a targeted manner.
