Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of deep-brain magnetic stimulation on sleep quality of plain officers and soldiers after entering plateau. Methods A prospective trial was performed on 50 officers and soldiers from the Seventh Medical Center of PLA General Hospital who entered plateau (4300 m) from plain in July 2020, and 25 received deep-brain magnetic stimulation (magnetic stimulation group) and 25 did not receive deep-brain magnetic stimulation (control group). The vital signs, sleep quality, altitude sickness, emotional state and cognitive function of the two groups were compared. Results Heart rate of the magnetic stimulation group[(91.8±12.8) beats/min]on the plateau was faster than that of the control group[(85.3±9.9) beats/min](t=-2.024, P=0.049). Sleep disturbance of the magnetic stimulation group[1.0(0.0,1.0)]on the plateau was milder than that of the control group[1.0(1.0,1.0)] (U=228.500, P=0.048). Daytime dysfunction of the magnetic stimulation group[1.0(0.0,1.5)]on the plateau was milder than that of the control group[1.0(1.0,2.0)] (U=211.500, P=0.033). Daytime dysfunction of the magnetic stimulation group[0.0(0.0,0.5)] after returning to plain was milder than that of the control group[1.0(0.0,1.5)] (U=207.000, P=0.018). There was no significant difference of blood pressure, oxygen saturation, altitude sickness, emotional state or cognitive function between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusions Deep-brain magnetic stimulation can improve the sleeping condition of the officers and soldiers stationed in the plain after entering the plateau.
