Abstract:Objective To investigate the expressions of VEGF in glioma tissues and whether vasculogenic mimicry(VM) exists in glioma and explain the clinical significance of VM. Methods 58 patients with glioma tissues were studied by using S-P method, and the expressions of VEGF were detected; by using CD34-PAS dual staining, the positive rates were compared and observed. Results The positive rates of VEGF expressions in gliomas of gradesⅠ,Ⅱ ,Ⅲ, Ⅳ were 1/6,9/19,14/21 and 12/9,there was significant difference between gradeⅠ,Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ, Ⅳ (χ2=3.87,P<0.05); the typical patterns of vasculogenic mimicry were observed. Conclusions There is high expression of VEGF in glioma related to glioma differention; vasculogenic mimicry exists in glioma, and the higher invasive glioma the more VM.
