Abstract:Objective To explore the status quo and influencing factors of return to work in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods The patients receiving MHD from West China Hospital Affiliated to Sichuan University, Yucheng District People’s Hospital of Ya’an City of Sichuan Province and Jiangyou People’s Hospital of Sichuan Province from January to April 2023 were selected by convenient sampling method. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the ready-to-work scale, and the status quo and influencing factors of ready-to-work in MHD patients were analyzed. Results A total of 197 questionnaires were distributed, 197 valid questionnaires were collected, 130 cases (66%) did not return to work, and 67 cases (34%) had returned to work. Compared with the dimension of intention before returning to work,, the score of intention before returning to work was higher [(3.09±0.82) vs. (2.81±0.87), t=-2.194, P<0.05)]. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that age [OR=4.860, 95%CI(2.533, 9.323),P<0.001)], and comorbidities [(OR=0.517, 95% CI, 0.270, 0.989, P=0.046)] were the influencing factors for MHD patients to return to work. Conclusions The readiness of MHD patients needs to be improved, so more attention should be paid to the readiness of MHD patients with young age and no comorbidities to return to work, and targeted intervention measures should be taken to enable patients to actively return to society and improve their quality of life.
