Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between vitamin D and Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) .Methods From October 2011 to May 2022, 160 patients with HT including 38 males and 122 females were selected from Anhui Provincial Corps Hospital of Chinese People’s Armed Police Force, and at the same time, 160 healthy control subjects (43 males and 117 females) were selected from the physical examination center of the same hospital. General information of age, sex, BMI, smoking history and thyroid hormone (TSH, T3, T4, FT3, FT4), TPOAb, TGAb, 25(OH) D levels were collected. The 160 HT patients were further divided into three groups, normal thyroid function group, abnormal thyroid function group, and left thyroid or antithyroid agent treatment group (whether the current thyroid function was normal or not). Results The levels of 25(OH) D in the three groups were significantly lower than those in the control group. The deficiency rate of 25(OH) D in the control group was 47.68%, while the deficiency rates of vitamin D in the three groups were higher than that in the control group (65.42%, 69.15%, 72.64% respectively). Logistic regression analysis showed that 25(OH) D had no significant correlation with T3, T4, FT3, FT4 in HT patients, but had weak negative correlation with TSH in abnormal thyroid function group and treated group, and had significant negative correlation with TpoAb, TgAb in three groups. Conclusions Low level of vitamin D may play a role in the occurrence and development of HT.
