The Impact of Technological Distance and Geographical Distance on University-Industry Collaborative Innovation: an Analysis of Joint-Patent

技术距离、地理距离与大学-企业协同创新效应——基于联合专利数据的研究

Abstract: Implementing innovation-driven strategy needs to pay more attention on collaborative innovation. Based on a sample of 13 universities and 191 firms' collaboration, using negative binomial estimation, the paper investigates the impact of technological distance and geographical distance on the performance of U-I collaborative innovation which is represented by joint-patent data. The research reveals that technological distance is positive related to the innovation outcomes, while geographical distance has a negative effect. Finally, we proposed policy suggestions according to the conclusions.

摘要: 协同创新在实施创新驱动发展战略过程中起到十分重要的作用。以中国大学和企业为研究对象,选取了13所大学及与之协同创新的191个企业作为样本,用大学-企业联合申请的发明专利数作为测度两者协同创新绩效的指标,运用负二项式回归模型,对技术距离、地理距离对中国大学-企业协同创新绩效的影响进行了探索。实证结果表明:技术距离对大学-企业协同创新绩效具有显著的促进作用,地理距离对大学-企业协同创新绩效具有显著的抑制作用,且正效应大于负效应。最后,根据研究结果有针对性地提出了政策建议。
