Abstract: From the perspective of knowledge sources, and based on the sample of 249 firms in ICT sector in China, this study examines the impacts of ownership on knowledge network choice and innovation performance, as well as the moderating effect of knowledge network on the relationship between ownership and innovation performance. The empirical results show that there exist significant differences between domestic firms and foreign subsidiaries in knowledge network choice, domestic HQs are more likely to establish local collaborations than foreign subsidiaries, and domestic HQs are more likely to invest in in-house R&D than foreign subsidiaries; foreign subsidiaries are more likely to establish international collaborations and use technology outsourcing than standalone firms; while there seems no differences between domestic firms and foreign subsidiaries in using corporate internal network. The domestic firms have better innovation performance than foreign subsidiaries, and knowledge network has significant moderating effect on the relationship between ownership and innovation performance.
