Abstract: Research on the“black box”modeled by the effect of bonding and bridging social capital(SC) on ambidextrous innovation is still insufficient in the academia. The effect of bonding and bridging social capital on ambidextrous innovation in the knowledge-intensive enterprises is studied, and the mediating role of knowledge integration(KI) is explored. The results reveal that (1)both bonding and bridging social capital facilitate ambidextrous innovation positively, but not appearing inverted U-shaped relationship, while the effect of bonding social capital influencing exploitative innovation is more significant , the effect of bridging social capital influencing exploratory innovation is more significant; (2)the supplementary knowledge integration plays a mediating role in the relationship between bonding social capital and exploitative innovation as well as the relationship between bridging social capital and exploratory innovation. however, the complementary knowledge integration plays a mediating role only in the relationship between bridging social capital and exploratory innovation; (3)Cluster Analysis finds the enterprise with high level of bonding and bridging social capital promote ambidextrous innovation better.
