  • On ontological of knowledge and its problems—From the perspective of personal knowledge
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1441-1446.
  • Abstract ( )
  • At present, most advocates of scientific practice claim that investigating of knowledge should not be confined to the epistemology but to the ontology. Thus, the local knowledge of “Rouse” has been widely discussed. Among them, Latour's view is the most radical,he claim the knowledge ontology to get rid of the subjectivity and the traditional dualism. However, the defect of this claim is obvious and difficult to overcome.Because non-human actors does not has the autonomy of the conscious people,at the same time,Latour has given all actors agency to erase the essential difference of them. In fact, before Latour, Polanyi has demonstrated the tacit root of knowledge and illustrated the inner relation between knowledge and human beings. In addition,Planyi unified the investigation and discussion of knowledge between epistemology and ontology.it may be a way to reflect and criticize knowledge ontology.
  • Study on the Ecological Mechanism of Entrepreneurship based on the Co-evolution of Technologies
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1447-1453.
  • Abstract ( )
  • The ecological property of entrepreneurship is a hot topic in current studies. At present, the entrepreneurship research from the perspective of ecology focuses on the static analysis of ecological attributesynchronic about entrepreneurial activity, lacking in a diachronic evolution analysis. It lays particular stress on entrepreneurial activity fragmentation of the ecological attributes and listing research but lacks in systematic and integrated research framework. It highlights main elements promoting function in the course of "ecological property" cultivation. But they all neglect the original driving function of the co-evolution of technologic elements. The article aims to build the entrepreneurial quadrant model from the physical technology innovation and social technology development of two dimensions, extract the PSRC entrepreneurship theory model from the physical and social technology co-evolution thought, establish coupled and collaborative ecological mechanism in the key link of the enterprise life cycle stages of various patterns and physical-social technology co-evolutionary.
  • The Historical Method in Innovation and Development Research
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1454-1460.
  • Abstract ( )
  • historical method used to be the main ways to research the issue of development in the age of Classic Economics, but it was abandoned by the new-classical economics. The method of abstract deduction and quantitative research used by the main economical theory cannot explain the qualitative change during innovation and development. The historical method plays an important role in studying the long-term evolution. All the German historical school, American historical school, Schumpeter and evolutionary economics emphasize the roles of historical method in researching innovation and development, and which has important implications for the research method and practice of China’s innovation and development.
  • Research on Government R&D Support Contract Considering the Mercerization Process of Industrial Generic Technology
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1483-1490.
  • Abstract ( )
  • This paper models Generic Technology R&D contract considering government technical support with a three-stage game, and studies generic technology R&D contract design which aims to maximize firm R&D input in the government perspective for the first time. Here are main results: When the government budget is enough large, the optimal generic technology R&D contract exists only. The optimal contract terms increases with the increase of budget and the optimal effort level for firm increases more quickly. Firm optimal input and the influence coefficient of firm and government which is related to generic technology R&D success is positive correlation and negatively related to the unit cost coefficient of the two sides. Considering the marketization process, Firm optimal R&D input, which is positive correlation to product market capacity based on generic technology, is negatively related to the degree of the externality of generic technology, difficulty of subsequent development, the product price sensitive coefficient and the unit cost of sales.
  • Can information communication technologies mitigate excess capacity?
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1491-1507.
  • Abstract ( )
  • The key of current supply-side structural reformation lies in how to mitigate excess capacity. Using survey data of World Bank about institutional quality of Chinese enterprise operation, this paper provides a manufacturing firm-level empirical analysis on the relationship between information communication technologies application and excess capacity. The results show that, the application of information communication technologies promotes the rates of firm capacity utilization. Therefore, information communication technologies could be the effective path to resolve excess capacity. Furthermore, this paper reveals the channel mechanism and moderating mechanism of the effects of information communication technologies on firm excess capacity. The channel mechanism is that by enhancing productivity, promoting firm innovation and strengthening information share, application of information communication technology brings effects of DE-capacity; The moderating mechanism is that government regulations have weakened the DE-capacity effect of information communication technologies application, but the quality of rule of law has strengthen the DE-capacity effect of information communication technologies application. In addition, the results of robust test show that, with firm of different scale and capacity, the DE-capacity effect of information communication technologies application is also different. Information communication technologies applications have even more significant and effects on excess capacity with large and medium or higher-capacity firm.
  • The research on the contribution and mechanism of managerial learning to technological progress
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1508-1517.
  • Abstract ( )
  • In the field of economic growth and technological growth, researchers have focused on technological learning and innovation. Although managerial learning makes a contribution to economic growth and technological progress, few studies have been down so far. Given this, the study constructed a theory model for the relationship between managerial learning and technological progress, based on current literature. The study tested propositions with China economy data from 1978 to 2013 and three typical firms, based on methods of mathematical statistics and multiple cases study. At last, we find that, managerial learning contributed to technological progress as more as 45%; and there are three mechanisms here, including efficiency - oriented, cost- oriented and technology opportunities- oriented.
  • Firm size, technology acquisition pattern and R&D structure
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1527-1535.
  • Abstract ( )
  • The scale of firm-level R&D is rapidly increasing in China, yet the structure of R&D investment has shown the tendency of imbalance, which may hinder the progress of Chinese economy. This article is based on data from 2004-2014 large and medium-sized industrial enterprises in China, examining the influence of firm size and technology acquisition pattern on the R&D structure (the ratio of basic and applied research to total R&D expenditures). We illustrate that as the size of the firm increases, its R&D structure follows a reverse "U" shaped curve, by which the ratio goes up and falls down after the firm size is beyond one particular turning point; technology acquisition pattern modifies the influence of firm size on R&D structure. Using dynamic GMM, we test the theory and the result also shows that inner R&D and technology purchasing positively modify the relationship between firm size and R&D structure, whereas technology import negatively modifies it. The test also finds that government support, degree of marketing and export play a positive role for R&D structure
  • Outward Foreign Direct Investment and Technological Catch-up of Latecomer Firms: A Moderated Mediating Model
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1546-1556.
  • Abstract ( )
  • Whether and how outward foreign direct investment impacts technological catch-up of latecomer firms has become an essential issue in the fields of both enterprises’ internationalization and technological catch-up. On the basis of mutlinational company theory and catch-up theory, this paper presents a moderated mediating model to explore how outforward foreign direct investment, r&d intensity and institutional quality exert influence on technologically catch-up of latecomer firms. Using the provincial panel data from 2003 to 2013 to test the hypotheses, the empirical results show that outwar foreign direct investment has a positive impact on technological catch-up of latecomer firms, and this impact is realized through the mediating role of r&d intensity. Moreover, the outwar foreign direct investment’s postive effects on technological catch-up of latecomer firms and mediating effects of r&d intensity are both strengthened with the enhancement of institutional quality.
  • The effect of bonding and bridging social capital on enterprise ambidextrous innovation—The mediating role of knowledge integration
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1557-1566.
  • Abstract ( )
  • Research on the“black box”modeled by the effect of bonding and bridging social capital(SC) on ambidextrous innovation is still insufficient in the academia. The effect of bonding and bridging social capital on ambidextrous innovation in the knowledge-intensive enterprises is studied, and the mediating role of knowledge integration(KI) is explored. The results reveal that (1)both bonding and bridging social capital facilitate ambidextrous innovation positively, but not appearing inverted U-shaped relationship, while the effect of bonding social capital influencing exploitative innovation is more significant , the effect of bridging social capital influencing exploratory innovation is more significant; (2)the supplementary knowledge integration plays a mediating role in the relationship between bonding social capital and exploitative innovation as well as the relationship between bridging social capital and exploratory innovation. however, the complementary knowledge integration plays a mediating role only in the relationship between bridging social capital and exploratory innovation; (3)Cluster Analysis finds the enterprise with high level of bonding and bridging social capital promote ambidextrous innovation better.
  • The Social Network Analysis of Cooperative Innovation Performance of industry-university-research Institution
  • 2017 Vol. 35 (10): 1578-1586.
  • Abstract ( )
  • The cooperative of industry-university-research Institution is one of the main ways for enterprises to gain competitiveness, Enterprises, universities and research institutes are embedded in the network and have an impact on the establishment of network relations and the development of network innovation performance. Based on the social network analysis, relying on QAP method and Ucinet software, the following conclusions can be drawn: The actor’s attribute of the cooperative innovation network is positively related to the cooperative relationship between industry, university and research Institution, and cluster enterprise innovation performance is positively related, too. The small world characteristics of the network are negatively related to the cooperative relationship between industry, university and research Institution, and cluster enterprise innovation performance is negatively related, too. Among them, the roles and positions of university is the most important. Enterprises should further strengthen their cooperation with universities and focus on the establishment and development of research institutions. The development of cluster enterprise innovation performance is due to the cooperative of industry-university-research Institution, but also need to avoid the negative effects of small world characteristics, and strengthen cross-regional and international exchanges
